Do you have proper desk posture? Improper desk posture causes injuries, both in the long term and short term. Eye strain, neck pain, and the dreaded carpal tunnel syndrome are all attributed to incorrect sitting posture at the computer.
Many of us use computers at least daily, some of us, all day long. To avoid a trip to the physical therapist it's best to sit correctly at your desk when using the computer. Click ahead for some helpful tips by physical therapists on good desk posture and how to sit correctly at your desk.
-Your back should be straight, your shoulders back, and the top of your monitor should be level with your eyes. If you have to look up or down, adjust the height of your screen. Your torso from hips to head should be in a straight line.
-Plant your feet flat on the ground while you're seated.
-Keep your arms by your sides at a 90-degree angle while typing.
-To avoid eye strain, follow the 20-20-20 rule. For every 20 minutes of computer time, focus your eyes away from the computer for 20 seconds on something at least 20 feet away. And don't forget to take breaks!
