New Bra Capable of Detecting Breast Cancer

New Bra Capable of Detecting Breast Cancer
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, a time to spread awareness, celebrate, remember victims, and emphasize early detection. The First Warning Systems Company has developed a new bra capable of detecting breast cancer up to 6 years ahead of tumor imaging detection.
Due to dense tissue, mammogram readings for women under 40 are often inaccurate. In an effort to offer this age group the ability to detect early-stage tumor growth, the bra uses a unique microwave antennae system within the cups to detect tissue changes. Using the science of thermography, the device provides data that is easily read with computer software or a mobile device app.
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with a type of breast cancer during their lifespan. Early detection is the best defense against any type of breast cancer. Mammograms work best on women 40 and over, but even then can produce false positives. For women under 40, up until the bras design, options included monthly at-home self exams or yearly doctor’s visits. The new bra will work for women of any age, is much more convenient than mammograms, and detects breast cancer in a developmental stage, unlike a mammogram.
The bra has already undergone 3 clinical trials to test its sensitivity and accuracy. In the trials, the bra was able to detect cancer growth 6 years in advance of what medical imagining can detect. If all goes according to plan in its final trial, the new bra capable of detecting breast cancer could be available in the U.S. as early as 2014.
