Momma says, “Eat Your Vegetables!”
Simply put. You cannot find any other food group that meets our human needs like vegetables do. There is nothing else that can replace those delicious colors on your plate and provide you with all the nutrition you need to have a life full of energy.
Eating at least 2 fruits and 3 cups of vegetables a day will provide you with all of your A Vitamins through D Vitamins including your folic acid from most veggies. Vegetables are dense of nutrition. You can never overeat vegetables. For a tiny 50 calories, you can a teaspoon of cream cheese or you can get a cup of vegetables that contains a wide variety of minerals, vitamins and important substances that are health-building, called phytonutrients.
If your kids simply won’t eat vegetables, there are other alternatives that will give some nutrition like PEDIA-SURE, but it should not replace the intake of veggies completely. It is just an aide.
Love Potatoes? You don’t have to stop enjoying them. Eat sweet potatoes. A good source of protein, fiber, beta-carotene, vitamin C, folate and calcium, sweet potatoes are a nutritious and delicious. With the world at your fingertips you can find countless recipes on-line for potatoes that your family will love.
Because Vegetables have so much fiber in them, you can get full and stay full longer instead of eating fatty, greasy foods. All vegetables are cholesterol-free and fat free. Most vegetables are less than 1 gram of fat, and even that tiny gram is mostly unsaturated fats.
Complex Carbs? Vegetables have them! The energy in vegetables is in the form of complex carbohydrates. They take time for your body to start digesting so it doesn’t cause your insulin levels to bounce up and down. An exception to this rule is high sugar veggies like carrots and beets. They are higher on the glycemic index and can increase your insulin.
In other words, mother knew best. This amazing super food that is so often overlooked, especially by fast food restaurants will change your life, increase energy, help with your skin, hair, nails and begin to heal old wounds and new studies show that it is even proven to be cancer-fighting! And yes, that is only the beginning of what these amazing super foods will do!
